AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret sect.
The mission centers on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Content
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana together with several artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Partnerships
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
