The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Season 2 Predictions — And She Has Positive Updates

The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been intense.

The first season presents a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.

The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?

"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.

That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.

"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."

She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.

"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
