The star has donated the complete sum of his £25,000 honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to preserve the Britain's grassroots live music spots.

The star was given the cheque on mid-October as his latest record the album was chosen as the best record of the last 12 months.

The musician has chosen to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function local spots fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – about one-sixth of the total UK scene.

In the last year, well-known musicians like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

He also participated, collecting over £100k on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped spaces that were confronting possible closure due to challenges caused by floods, fires and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues obtained monetary aid in modernizing amenities and gear that helped artists and fans.

"The idea that revenue from shows in big venues helps the local stages, where it begins for musicians like me, is just common sense," the star has said.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his award prize money to good deeds.

In Pulp won the award in the mid-90s for their record Different Class, frontman Cocker announced that the band would give their winnings to the charity the charity.

That year, artist she divided her bounty among several charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also gave a £1,000 to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed better apparatus," the artist explained to outlets.

Previously, they contributed their winnings to the local youth club that developed their group, as well as other local music groups.

And the 1994 recipients M People donated their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," said vocalist the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our victory touched the lives of others."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under community ownership.

One venue in Southampton and the second in Bristol were bought under the community ownership program, which is funded by Arts Council England and music fans who buy "shares" in the buildings.
